Skiathos is a small Greek Island, part of the Sporades. It's size may be small (about 46 sq km) but it is one of the top holiday destinations in the world. Skiathos is renowned for its beaches, over 60 including Koukounaries, rated one of the best beaches in the world year after year. The white sands, clear water, and deep green pine forests create the setting for a picture perfect holiday. On Skiathos, there is something for everyone. Relax in the peaceful garden setting of the your villa and take the short trip into town for world class shopping, dining, and nightlife. Visit the historical site of Kastro, the walled fort that protected the islanders in medieval times, and the Bourtzi, a 13th century citadel, with remains of the wall and canons. Now the Bourtzi is used for concerts, art exhibitions and puppet shows for children in the open air theater. Visit the Monastery of Evangelistria, open to the public. Tour the historic buildings, enjoy the lush grounds and mountain views, and don't forget to taste the wine! In the museum and library of the monastery you can see important books and relics of historical and religious significance. The island is made to explore by sea. Some of the best beaches can only be reached by boat. Tsougrias Island, popular with local residents, is just a few minutes from your doorstep at Porto Castello. Lalaria Beach is famous for its smooth white stones and has been the backdrop for several movies. Take a boat trip from the harbor, or rent your own boat. Ask us about setting up a boat rental & villa package so your boat will be waiting for you when you arrive! Watersports are also widely available around the island, as well as horseback riding and diving. With so much to do it is no wonder guests return year after year. Porto Castello is located across the harbor from the town center, on a peninsula known as the Pounta. Covered in pine trees it is a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of town. It is just a few minutes by boat, or a quick drive into the city of Skiathos. The beaches are all easily accessible by car, or by bus from town.
